A Week in the Land of the Rising Sun – Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara)

Here’s the summary of our weeklong trip to Japan πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅

Day 0 – Arrived in Kansai Airprot a little past 9Pm. Since we cannot make it to Tokyo, we decided to sleep at the airport in order for us to catch the first trip of shinkansen bound for Tokyo the next day.

Good thing Kansai Airport has comfortable seats. we didn’t have a hard time sleeping on those chairs πŸ™‚πŸ’Ί

Day 1 – Arrival in Tokyo – went straight to Oak Hostel Inn and rested for a couple of hours. We then took Β off and went to Shibuya Crossing to see the famous street and the famous dog, Hachico. We also had our super late lunch/early dinner in here before we headed back to the inn and called it a day.

Day 2 – While having breakfast in the hostel’s common area, my group discussed our itinerary for the day (yes! we didn’t have concrete plan for this trip! blame us for being so dedicated to work 😬 ). We all agreed to visit Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture. Β It was on our way back to Tokyo that we thought of going to Odaiba to see the big robot, Gundam.

wow! just wow! 😍😍😍

Day 3 – We made a quick stop at Disneyland Tokyo then spent the rest of our morning walking in the streets of Akihabara to do souvenir-hunting. But we didn’t find any. Afternoon came and it was time to leave Tokyo. We thought of buying souvenirs in Osaka instead. It was already dark when we reached the city. So we just looked for our inn and snoozed off after eating dinner.

Day 4 – Kyoto Day Trip – An early walk/photo op with the deers in Nara Park. A visit in the Fushimi-Inari Temple. And a stroll in the crowded Dotonbori. All done in Day 4.

Day 5 – Went back to Kyoto to see the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. Universal City followed at night.

Day 6 – Spent the morning buying souvenirs in Osaka. I don’t have pictures of the malls because I left my things in a locker at the train station. I bought a jacket for myself 😬. it was time to bid goodbye to Japan 😒😒 But then, upon checking in at the airport, a paper was handed to us. It was a letter stating that our flight for that night was rescheduled 12PM the next day due to Typhoon Karen. We used the time to explore the airport and its features. Another night spent in the airport 😬

  1. Whoa! Super post for a super trip. πŸ™‚
Glad to see Kochia Hill there, especially with their red colors combined with greens. I’ll definitely go back there again next year… totally an underrated travel destination.
    The souvenirs are in Asakusa.
And high five for sleeping inside the airport. I’ve done that before. πŸ˜‰

    1. Hello there! I wanna thank you again for your Hitachi post. I wouldn’t know about that garden if not for your post πŸ™‚
I will definitely go to Asakusa when I return to Japan… and the ramen museum too! had we known that our flight was rescheduled, we would have visited that place. There’s still a lot of reason to go back in that country πŸ™‚
